HOLLAND;
BRIDGE IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE,
To understand the photo's under, I'll give an explaination first,
From above to under;
1) The old bridge (in fog this week),
2) The house of the bridge-watcher,
3) Wooden pilar for boats to connect,
4) Same Rotten wooden pilar, or what is left from it.
A "Bridge watcher" was in earlier times such as 1600-1700 century a normal or well-known proffesion. A bridge-watchers duty was, to open and close the bridge for high-mast's boats(mostly sailor boats) ,because this bridge is now old and rosty( its made from Steel) it is not in use anymore, or it cannot be opened, the bridge is always open now.
The Bridgehouse , was only in use 'on daytime' now its rented by 1 person, an sweet older 70+ man, without a family. But he's holding 2 chickens in front of his little house :) Yesterday I passed this bridge and I quess 'because of the good sunny weather' I looked a little better as usual, down into the waterand saw this rotten wood-pilars... I got my camera and took this shots...
(NOT ALL PHOTO'S ENLARGE, TRY THE FIRST AND THE THIRTH, THEY WILL)

I like the wooden pillar, it looks as if it is suspended in the air by it's self.
nice shot.
I love the bridge, JoAnn, and all that you've written about it. Your pics are wonderful, as always. :)
Lovely photos. The bridge house is delightful, I'd love to see what it looks like inside. Very interesting shot of the rotten pillars; nice to know about the "bridge watcher," too.
I have seen this kind of bridge before on a blog from the Netherlands. They also showed us how it worked.
I like the photo because of the fog that adds some mystery. I also like the small house of the bridge watcher. It looks like something you would see in a Peter Sellers movie.
You are a gifted photographer.
I hope you can sometime come to see my birds on my bird blog.

The photographs really are very good, JoAnn, nice job. And that house is adorable, I'd love to live there. Cool post.
The mist, the fog, soooooooooooo enhancing!...so eeerie!
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
the little house is so sweet ....and the bridge in the fig is a classic pic!!! :)
JoAnn, your photos today offer so much to dream over. The fog feels so mysterious but then it lifts and one sees a charming little house, decorated so finely. And the intense blue in the last two photos entices the viewer to stay longer.
wow very interesting and great photos to match ;o]
You have some beautiful photos JoAnne. The Spain pictures remind me of my holiday there this year, not far away at Tossa de Mar.
Thx for dropping by my place
Hallo JoAnn.
Wat een fraaie Hollandse foto's, en wat een contrast met de daar onder staande foto's van het kleurrijke Spanje.
I like the bridge keepers house, it's nice that it not just built functionally, but they have had some pride to build it with decoration.
JoAnn,the little house with two chickens and a nice old fellow,
is wonderful!
I just love the life that it paints a picture of.
You must certainly treasure your view.
Wonderful photos. Such a shame the bridge is in such disrepair. I love the bridgewatcher's house :o)
Hi JoAnn,
Great pictures! I had a terrible week, so was a bit late on replying...
It seems the weather is a bit crazy this year. You had a misty week; I'm finally going to take some holidays, but Greece, where I'm heading to, is on fire…
Meanwhile, I leave you in Bali at Blogtrotter. Enjoy!
i love the two picture of the brigde deatails. Nice with the blue sky
Ja dat zijn net van die dingen die je ff moet zien, ik vind de foto's heel mooi vooral van het verrotte hout.
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for reacting, I am a bit busy this coming weekend, but posted (see saterday) another post of Holland, I will answer or react after the weekend.
