Rebuilding of a woodmill....

Today we went to the "Zaanse Schans"to visit a rebuilded " copie from old' woodmill. The Company where Bert is working for named: Hillen & Roossen rebuilded this old mill 'as the original' named "Het jonge Schaap" from a drawing. They started with it in July 2005 and it will be finished in September 2007. Because Bert is working for this company "Hillen" we were able to visit this beautiful 'not finished yet' mill today.
Visiters 'from all over the world' come to visit "the Zaanse Schans" wich is in the North of Holland. Here you can look free to all kinds of different mills, and of course see them work.!!! Its fantastic to walk here , also to watch the beautiful Dutch view and see this many mills. The re are stores with typical Dutch things for sale like : the Delft Blue , typical Dark brown bread, Stroopwafels, all kinds of Cheese, boterbabbels, Haagse hopjes, wooden shoes, and reall Tulips (from wood and glass) and much more!

Mills are very Dutch, its a reall proffesion to work as a Mill-man, and there are only 2000 mills and people wich are still working in a mill. (like Bert's brother Ron) Mills have several functions in what they can do: As an example there are : Woodmills, they sew and dry wood , Watermills, they pump water from a higher to a lower level, Flour (wheat) mills, Mustard-mills and many more kinds ( and functions) of mills. They are all painted in different colours and the outside is mostly made from wood, its a fantastic looking craftmanship , you have to feel this this in own person, and see it all with your own eyes, to believe it and feel the wind true the mills arms ('wieken')... This is SO typical but beautiful Dutch.
