We saw many many tropical and beautiful intensive coloured flowers, "without roses I always love so much , haha!"We saw them in the public gardens, but also 'everywhere/wild on the streets ' in ITALY- Taormina. NO you should not pick them , that's forbidden don' you see?

In Italie/Taormina zagen we in o.a. een bloementuin (zonder rozen haha), maar ook gewoon op straat deze prachtige geleurde, tropische bloemen, en het is ECHT verboden om ze te plukken !

Italy, Up & down the stairs

Walking/hiking upstairs went SO well :)

Downstairs went not really so well for me, because I felt on slippery stone-stairs walking downstairs ,on my ass haha Yes ! Thanks a lot, I was not blu/green..outside, but inside oooow !!!. Ohhh no:) Today in hospital they check by X-ray + a Orthopedic doctor what happened inside, oof I can hardly stand-up nor sit-down oooowww, hahaha:).... keep you informed:)

In Sicilie zijn we vele trappen op-en afgelopen....

we zagen eenmaal boven, prachtige Panorama's!!

naar boven ging prima, maar een keer naar beneden niet zo HEEL erg goed, wat ik viel van een paar STENEN treden keihard op mijn kont (ahum), Vandaag naar het ziekenhuis om een Rontgen foto laten maken en naar de Orthopeut, Ik hou je op de hoogte.

Italy ,Temple and Theatre,

On our journey to SOUTH Italy-Sicily,

we saw this beautiful historical Temple with a hugh Theatre inside....

In Italie Sicilie zagen we deze prachtige oude historische Tempel, met vanbinnen een enorm Theater ...

SEGESTA the Temple and Theatre,
Photo below:"Segesta" is THE most impressive Greek temple of Sicily, its made 416-426 before Crist, its never really finished. The temple belongs to an city named "Egesta" (12 centuries before Chr.) which belonged to the Eliminers (Spanish or Liguric people, thought the historic's ). The Temple has a closed "cella" inside, although the Temple is laying in a valley, the surroundings are just empty hills & idyllic GREAT landscape.

Photo under: The theatre inside this Temple, ( 4th c b Chr. built under the Romans) is VERY big! Big enough for 3200 visiters,WOW! with its 63 meters wide you can probably imagine how hugh/BIG this fantastic theatre is.

Italian Cookery with tomatoes,

Imagine that you sit here on a table, made up well" with a candle and some breath and make yourself comfortable, pretend there is a burning candle, take a glass of water or a glass of Italian LAMBRUSCO red wine.........and there you goooooo.....

WITH Italian cookery , you need for sure TOMATOES!!!! So look at the photo under:The little tomatoes are called "cherry tomatoes" The above bigger ones "the regular tomato's" are shaped oval or round and they must be a little more fleshy and SWEET!

Italians are used to a pre- meal, the easy and Quick PRE-meal is called "brushetta", Very easy to make because you need only the following ingredients:

*Bread, regular tomatoes, olive oil, salt, basil, oregano,

*(add a little fruit to it 'when you like that', such as pineapple or apple)

*and for on the side some green/black olives.

*

Preparation:

It depends for how many persons, but count per person 1 BIG slice of white bread, toast the slices of bread in a toaster or in a (dry) pan on a low fire until they are crispy and brown coloured.

In the meanwhile prepare the tomatoes by cutting them very fine, stirr them in a pan add some olive oil and basil and make it slightly warm (do not cook!), (for people who like it,you can add some garlic) when the tomatoes are warm, add them on top of the bread, serve warm with a glass of wine. ( or a glass of water or beer)

CHERRY TOMATOES from the Sicilian Kitchen,

STUFFED WITH RICE.

INGREDIENTS (FOR 4 PERSONS)

*1kg of ripe cherry tomatoes,

*200gr of rice,

*200 gr of bechamel sauce (see sauces)

*50 gr of grated parmesan (Italian hard cheese)

*1 sprig of basil,

*olive oil, salt.

PREPERATION

* WASH the cherry tomatoes, dry them, scoop out the middle, and put the pulp into a small bowl.*COOK the rice in plenty of salted water,*DRAIN when it is just done and mix in the becamel and the grated parmesan,*FILL the cherry tomatoes with the mixture obtained,*PLACE the pulp in a dish with a little oil, salt, and some chopped basil leaves. Put the tomatoes into the dish and cook the oven at 180 C for 30 minutes.*REMOVE the dish from the oven and place a cheese slice on top of each tomato,*RETURN to the oven for 5 minutes and serve hot.

Italy/Taormina- Theatre GRECO

Taormina-Theatre Greco,

On our trip to Italy/Sicilia we stayed in the beautifull old historical village "TAORMINA" , of course we liked to visit the OLD HISTORICAL Theatre GRECO, because we both made many, many photographs, its unable to publice them all, therefore I choose to collect them together into the 2 collages here-under. I am myself aware of the fact that you may like to see more(bigger photograps instaed of a collage), if so.... please let me know (and ask me, tell me please wich photo you want me to enlarge) and I will post the photo of your choice bigger.

HISTORY of THEATRE GRECO

The Old historic theatre GRECO of Taormina (4 C's before Chr.) is laying in between rocks,the panorama's looking over "the ETNA" and The Ionic sea, (look at the background).The Theatre is Greek origin with a Roman construction. In older times the Arena was used for Gladiator-fights, now-a-days the Theatre is used for music- and art festivals in Taormina.

De HISTORIE van Theater GRECO

Het oude historische Theater GRECO van Taormina (4e eeuw voor Chr) is uit de rotsen gehouwen, en kijkt uit over de "Etna" en de Ionische zee.(Die zie je op de achtergrond) Het Theater zelf is van Griekse oorsprong met een Romeinse constructie, Vroeger werden er Gladiatoren gevechten gehouden, maar wordt het Theater gebruikt voor muziek- en Kunstfestivals in Taormina.

Of Course when we were in TAORMINA it was a pelasure to walk through the shopping streets, there were plenty of little and big shops, the streets were narrow and cosy....

Natuurlijk zijn we in TAORMINA door de vele, leuke, kleine en gezellige winkelstraatjes gelopen.....

For HIM and HER and for the tourists, some "stones-jewelry" made from the ETNA-(lava)stone's.Voor Hem en Haar en de toeristen, wat gesteente -sieraden gemaakt van ETNA -(lava)stenen

But when she is seaching for a little bit more classy (expensive)style...

Maar als zij een wat betere (DUURDERE) kwaliteit ketting zoekt,

Or a bit MORE expensive and exclusive, thats possible 'signora',

Of zoekt "signora" wat duurder en meer exclusiefs?

Do You also like some Exclusive and classy (not to name the price!) pair of high heels-shoes? with a bag and chain? Of zoekt u meer een exclusieve en (niet de prijs noemen!) paar hoge hakken, met bijpassende tas en ketting?

And this dress would fit you well' signora',

En deze jurk sigora, zou u ook wel passen ,

Or does 'signora' like more this above style of dress? Its however half a sack and dress, (Huh?)handy for your shopping maybe? Of houdt mevrouw van deze jurk, combinatie zak, tevens handig om boodschappen mee te doen?

Schoolteachers andstudentgirls or bussinesswoman better choose this style...Onderwijzeressen en schoolmeisjes kunnen beter deze mantelpakjes dragen.

Its getting late and dark, and its starting to rain too, so lets eat something in a restaurant and after that went to our panoramic hotel....for a good night sleep.... tomorrow another day!

Het wordt al laat en donker , en het gaat OOK NOG regenen , dus gaan we uit eten en daarna lekker naar ons panorama hotel ,vooreen goede nachtrust. Morgen weer een dag!

We went for a holiday to the

We zijn naar Zuid Italie, in Scilie geweest, de meeste foto's zijn gemaakt in Taormina, zoniet dan noem ik waar. Dubbelklik op de foto's om ze te vergroten...

Siciliaanse vrouw kijkt naar welk fruit/groente ze zal kopen.

A man is bringing mineral-water to the local restaurants in Mazzurro, Een man brengt mineraal-water naar de plaatselijke restaurantjes.

Het lokale drankje is de amandelwijn en likeuren

Above; All kinds of herbs, oils, pasta's ,

Allerlei soorten kruiden, olien en pasta's

Vegetables and fruit sold at Local street shops,

Groenten en fruit verkoop stalletje op straat

The same fruit? No! this 'fruit' is made from marsepain (seen everywhere in Sicilia) or sweet cakes, the Arabian influence on Sicilia make them love all kinds of sweets very very much! Weer fruit? Nee! Dit 'fruit' is van marsepein, overal te zien, ook veel cakesoorten. De Arabische invloeden maken dat de Sicilianen gek zijn op allerlei zoetigheden.

Don' t forget the different kinds of Pasta!!!

Vergeet de vele soorten Pasta niet!!!

Hmmmm very good cheeses, salami's an olives...

A quick overall "collage-view" of our travelling to the South-east of Italy , we travelled to the island SICILIA to a small historical village named "Taormina", we enjoyed this vacation very very much!!!! With great weather... some 'not to name' rainy' days, however a fantastic place to visit for a week or longer!!! We saw great hills/mountains, the sea-beach, we ate some great snacks , drunk italian almond-wine ,and yummie Italian ice-creams hmmmmm! and a lot more! Sonn I'll publice for sure some more information.

Een snel collage-foto-kijkje van ons reisje naar Zuid-oost Italie, wij waren in Taormina een klein historisch mooi stadje . We hebben aldaar een fantastische tijd doorgebracht, met mooi weer en regen "dat was niet erg". We hebben prachtige heuvels/bergen gezien, de zee het strand, en lekkere snacks gegeten,De regio italiaans amandelwijn gedronken, heeeerlijk italiaans ijs gegeten hmmmm.
