STORM & The Dutch Deltaworks

You have to know that Holland is laying under sealevel...

This weekend we expect a hugh storm, Today was on the news that the seawater raised already up onto 3.16 meters above NAP,(NAP= the Normal Amsterdam waterpile) The country Holland is laying far UNDER sealevel. In 1953 'when there was the first big disaster, because the water raised above 3.85 meters above NAP. .....BTW: the ground-water-pile is not everywhere the same and can vary on each spot, coast or island in Holland! Elsewhere in the world they have their own "NAP".

Dit weekend wordt een storm verwacht , vandaag werd op het nieuws gemeld dat het water al is gestegen tot 3.16 mtr boven NAP, in a953 met de grote watersnoodramp was het water gestegen tot 3.85mtr boven NAP... (NAP = Normal Amsterdams Peil) Let op: Het waterpeil kan varieeren , en is op elke plaats/kust of eiland dus anders! In andere landen in de wereld is een eigen NAP-waarde.

The DUTCH "Deltaworks"

In 1953 the southwest of Holland, was hit by a Hugh waterdisaster.It started in 1953 with a 'normal storm' but it soon became an orcane. Metershigh waves went OVER the Dutch dikes , more than 1800 people died, animals too. Many people lost everything, their belongings. This should NEVER happen again ,we thought! And there was a plan "THE DELTAPLAN"

In 1953 werd zuidwest Nederland getroffen door een grote watersnoodramp. Wat als een gewone storm begon, veranderde in een zware orkaan. Metershoge vloedgolven sloegen over de dijken heen. Meer dan 1800 mensen en duizenden dieren kwamen om. Veel mensen waren alles kwijt. Zoiets mocht nooit meer gebeuren. Er lag al een plan klaar, het Deltaplan.

1961-1962 Waterworks,

Building the "Deltaworks" was a gigantic project, The damms and 'waterreturners' were/are big waterworks, thoug the sea-arms were closed by two technics: Craissons, this are BIG stone(beton) 'walls' , and 2: closing down by big pieces of stone, by cables. Of course secure measurements were needed for the exact places and materials... The technicans needed to have much knowledge of :the power of the seafloat, the power of the streaming, the depth, and where the sandplates (under water) were, the width of the sea-arms and much more....

1961-1962Waterbouwkunde

Het bouwen van de Deltawerken was een gigantisch project. De dammen en andere waterkeringen zijn grote waterbouwkundige werken. Bij het afdichten van de zeearmen gebruikten de bouwers twee technieken. Caissons, grote betonnen zinkstukken en het dichtstorten met grote brokken steen met behulp van kabelbanen. Van te voren was goed nagedacht over de plaats van de dammen. De waterbouwkundigen moesten met veel factoren rekening houden. De breedte van de zeearm, de kracht van de stroming, de diepte en de aanwezigheid van zandplaten. Ook de werking van sluizen en stormvloedkeringen moest nauwkeurig berekend worden.

The seadikes near the "waddensea" are 7.5 meters above NAP , although the North-sea-dikes are plm 12 meter above NAP ....

Also the 'Delta-rule/lore's",

discibed the absolute need for the precise hight of DIKES at the biggest rivers as: the RIJN, the MAAS and the IJSSEL. (to protect the people and their houses)

Ook de Deltawet Grote Rivieren schrijft hoogtes voor dijken en kades voor,

van de Rijn, Maas, Waal en IJssel. Om de aldaar levende mensen en hun huizen te beschermen.

Blocked....

HaaaHaaaa !! Aaaargg!!

Today I took away my exhibition stuffs, but that wasn't so easy.... Well it supposed to be easy....

Perhaps You recognise this kind of feeling.....??????

To pick up my exhibition stuffs, I parked my car in Naarden village. And I went to the restaurant where my photo's were hanging, only when I wanted to load all the stuffs into my car...... a BIG Hugh car parked in front of mine.(A BIG supermarket-car, kind of caravan-shop on wheels) So he parked -double his car, in front of mine.

This way I could not open my passenger door, neither I could drive fore wards, even not sidewards. ( or open the passenger door) I only could drive straight backwards and than only over the passengers-sidewalk....

So I asked the owner, if he could move for 2 minutes so that I could drive out the parking spot. "NO WAY!!!" He said immediately .... "I am parking here already every Tuesday for 25 years..." was his argument. I tried again..... But ehhh I have breakable glass frames inside my car, and they might brake when I drive backwards over the bumpy sidewalk!? "'NO! he said: I don't even think about it". Hmmmm, I started to boil inside myself slowly... What the heck was this man thinking, that he own this street , or what? So I tried a couple of times to argue nicely, asked him to move several ways.....but no way he wouldn't move.

Finally (I cooked inside myself) I told him that he was a kind of A-social , but.... that he could not help it because he was a man. ( sorry! for the nice man)

His face turned red, and he told me that he never, ever, never ,would go aside for 'a women like me' . Ohhhh, is that soooo I asked? NO! he said because no-one ever told him that he was a-social . Right I thought, perhaps it was not nice to say to him that he behaved A-social, but I really would have liked to do something more aw full, but I didn't do anything.....bad, words.... and this was the truth, don't hurt in this situation....

I thought a lot of bad things (?X!?X) , I would like to yell dirty words at this man, but I decided to stay calm and take the risk that my frames would brake, or the car -windows would brake ( because of the stair inside my car), all better than be smashed or yelled at, by this aw full man.

Instead of yelling at him or something else bad, I'd rather stayed calm......I clapped-in my side mirror , otherwise it would brake-off, than the gear into the back, and drove backwards carefully, slowly away.

At home I took a double espresso and wrote this down into my blogger.

Later I would laugh loud about this hahahaha!!!!!

We don't know what tomorrow is gonna bring....

yesterday the SUN was shining today it's SNOWING...!! We don't know anything about the weather forecast.... we can only quess: Is it today after-winter , pre-summer, or spring? The Weather has no rules.

The weather teaches me this one lesson:

" I do what I want, I feel as I please" .

So I better enjoy every day and do what I like ,I better behave as the weather and ENJOY each seperated day, each kind of weather. " because who knows what tomorrow will bring? Sun , rain or snow?? I am telling you this: My OWN personal rules cannot be made by others, so are that I enjoy life every day as it is my last. I don't want it to be spoiled by anyone ( NOT by' Dutch' family, not by neighbors ) . I just telling YOU this do NOT feel quilthy when you don't get into their fight invitation. I choose to be peacefull and happy, because I want to feel happy, therefore I am happy, you are free to choose the same. I do have enough SUN happy-ness (love) inside me to give away as a help to people who don't feel much love or happy-ness by themselfs.

Help others by your rules:

I give away love/help but with the following personal rules: as long as no-one or the other spoil my personal emotional life, I don't let anyone do that . I am older, 52 now so I learned by the above rules in my personal life, how to go on well with others: friends, family and so-on.... Or no-one cannot making me feel quilthy when they don't wanna be helped by me or anyone else , I respect their choice in that. My body isn't healthy at all, I must take my rest, I am often 'pretty' sick, so the 'health' choice isn't free for me to choose anymore. But I am free, so I can choose to make the best of my emotional life. And I have choosen to feel happy, " at least I can try", no matter what! You can make that choice too, with a little help maybe.

A 'hype' I feel sorry about.....

What is worrying me is that there seemed to be a terrible 'hype' going on in this world. Last week only as an illustration, is this a hype? In 3 different families happened this.... parents murdered theirself and their children.... so horrable. The reason maybe was that they were unhappy about theirselfs, they were in a divorce, or other reasons . Fact: A mother took the life of her 5 children (!!) in the age between 3 and 15 years old and took theirs- and her own life with succes. A father jumped in front of a train with his 2 sons, of 4 and 6 under his arms, they all died.

I just ty to imagine how unhappy this parents should be and how terrible helpless and afraid this children would have felt before they died...Poor innocent children, I hope they didn't feel much pain in their last hours, poor parents because they badly were in need of help.I pity this children because they had no choice for a living. I just feel so deeply sorry for that this happened, for all the families who stay behind, as brothers, sisters or grandparents, or other people involved & around , who couldn't do anything to help!

Last week politics.... is what I call "nothing talk" . I am ashamed to be Dutch. Because the Dutch Government is 'with their freedom of speach' , going way too far!!!!! I think 'one can discuss most things but not this personal, NOT when you are in the government.... than one should be wiser" . Now some call others for vague reasons.

The discussion was about this:

A member /politician of the Nationalist party, (PVV = Party for a free country:thats how they call themselfs) they were the whole last week in the news by saying that2 members of the government (1th 2th room) wich are from 'another birthcountry' ( and having 2 passports) , shouldn't be a member of the government because of that. I don't understand this opinion. The real reason for this 'understatement' is that Party's fear for the Moslim religion, they doesn't want Moslims to be a member of our Government, also best would be that most Moslims better leave our country, all people should have 1 passport. ( they think that maybe all Moslims are terroristst, wich isn't true) ) So their opinion is that this members should have just 1 (Dutch) passport, or better leave the Politics, because now they were not good for our country. I really felt (and still feel) very uncomfortable by this politic meaning. In Holland is " having the "freedom of a meaning & speach" , very & typical Dutch. But even in a democratic country and freedom of speach, there are limits. Above opinion is not my meaning, I disagree with that and I am glad that most people disagree.

Whats my opinion: All people should have the freedom to choose their own religion, and they should have the freedom to keep their 2 passports when thats their personal feeling/wish. We should respect each others religion and not fight with each other, out of the name of 'whatever religion' , everybody/you choose your own religion, what fits you. With emigration: You keep your birth-county passport, when you feel like that. We should love and respect each other , no matter what background (or county you come from) they or you have. We are all eagle, we are all the same, but you may feel free to choose different. People of other cultures, you are welcome in our Country, we also love your different style's of food: Italian, Chinees, Indonesian, African, France,etetera..... we learn also from each others religion-food-culture-lifestyles ...
