Dutch World reflected..in glass
Or: the 'sky'is the ceiling?

Architecture & Art: from "Berlage"
Last week I showed here on my blog , some details from photo's I made of the inside from a building in Amsterdam named: "The Beurs van Berlage", This building is designed by the Dutch Designer Architect, named: "BERLAGE".
Some Blogreaders were asking me to show more,

so here it is.....More of Berlage...enjoy,
Above Left: The ceiling in black and white,

Above right: The glasshouse (for the orchestra) inside the building
Do you See? The Reflected SKY in Glass!
Right! The Sky ís indeed the ceiling!
The Black and white -non colour- is captured by me of course, because the natural colours are orange/Yellow & even green and grey/white/black.
Watch the coloured photo's below
Above; seen from above, from the balcony : an overview,
see the 'white wings' ( seen through glass) used to arrange the acoustic,
for the orchestra, which is weekly practising inside the glasshouse .

Above: Looking up at the (sky) ceiling ,
the brickstones are here in their natural colour:
orange and yellow .Look carefully because the architect,
"Berlage": he used more colours inside the building!

Above: On the ceiling a modern stellage for the hanging lamps,
I really like the lines , its an "art of itself"inside an art building...

Above: And here you see from above the lamps....
I like the shape of the square neon lamps,
Its both: awfull and art like this looks together...
.....and of course more of the inside of building
Above; Inside the building " another room" where public can watch a show,

Above : Somewhere inside the building....,
even the pipes are painted in the same colours of the stones,
-maybe to hide them?- its all a piece of art,
but you must watch carefully to see all the details....
its very arty every part of this building.

Above: a hall with artistic patterns typical for Berlage , he even used coloured stones for the patterns on the floor and even for the walls. its all great art.
Where is this endless hall ending??????

The sky seen "Reflected"through acoustic glass?

Photo above; The Beurs van berlage Amsterdam (photo http://www.joannwalraven.com/)

What you see on the above and under pictures is glass designed for acoustic reasons:
In 1990, architect Zaanen and builder Eekhout built a glass concert hall in this room for the Dutch Chamber Orchestra. The orchestra now has perfect acoustics while the concert-goer can enjoy the beauty of the original room. The construction of this glass hall was a first for the Netherlands, as the glass plates are partially self-supporting. The building of the "Beurs van Berlage" is later again renovated under the coordination of a wellknown Dutch building-company : "Hillen & Roosen "

Above Photo: Inside "the Beurs van Berlage" (photo by http://www.joannwalraven.com/)

The Beurs van Berlage was built by Hendrik Petrus Berlage (1856-1934) for the Municipality of Amsterdam. Construction started in 1898 and was completed in 1903. It was Berlage’s first really large commission – and it would make him world famous. In 14 steps through the building The building was constructed on a reclaimed tract of land alongside the Amstel river, where trading ships used to moor. More about the Beurs van Berlage click here: http://en.beursvanberlage.nl/beursvanberlage/14stappen/14stappen_01.html

History ,About The Beurs van Berlage

http://en.beursvanberlage.nl/index.php

Picture:. The former Main Hall

*The Main Hall..........., was used not only for trading in commodities (such as copper, coffee and cotton), but also as the venue for large parties and political events.
The room communicates an intandse feeling of rest. This originates from the balance Berlage created between the colours (especially the blue and yellow), the materials (brick, sandstone, granite, iron and wood) and the architectural form.
.........................The brick walls of the Corn Exchange Room are not red, but yellow. The sawtooth roof, with all its windows facing north, has a different colour, too. Berlage designed it this way in order to allow the corn traders to properly inspect the corn samples. If they still didn't trust what they saw, they could step out into the courtyard (situated immediately behind the Main Hall, but later covered by a roof and now used as an office) in order to view the sample in daylight. The Toorop Tableaux depict the various stages that corn went through from when it was harvested to when it was consumed as bread.

*
More information of.... The " Beurs van Berlage"
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Beurs van Berlage is a building on the Damrak, in the center of Amsterdam. It was designed as a commodity exchange by architect Hendrik Petrus Berlage and constructed between 1896 and 1903. It influenced many modernist architects, in particular functionalists and the Amsterdam School. It is now used as a conference venue. and is constructed of red-yellow brick, with an iron and glass roof and stone piers, lintels and corbels. Its entrance is under a large clock tower, while inside lie three large multi-story halls formerly used as trading floors, with offices and communal facilities grouped around them.
The aim of the architect was to reject the styles of the past. To the modern eye, the design may still appear a little fussy, but at the time, most apparent were its sweeping planes and open plan interiors. It has stylistic similarities with some earlier buildings, for instance St Pancras station, but there the functional train shed was disguised by a neo-Gothic facade.

..."Trojan Horses" ..... + last news

JoAnn joins Tuesdays: MY WORLD ,<>wednesday: ABC WEDNESDAY - and Fridays: SKYWATCH Friday

***********************************************************************************

.."About a HORSE"..named... ,

"TROJAN... What? " Trojan Horses? ..
Better be carefull.
SKY WATCHING Horse? " Horses are Fantastic & nobel animals, I love them"... The above "photo " is how I really feel about Horses....

"No "JoAnn-D-Eyes" is not joking here, "JOKE " really was my name in my childhood that maybe is a "Joke" , In English it has another meaning..... ...

My ideal Horses.... A true happened story...

When I was a child, I used to ride (and brush) Horses after schooltime -instead of making my home work- Me and my female little schoolfriend went from The Hague/Monster of course by horse, to Kijkduin or to the Kurhauss at Scheveningen beach. That were great times! In all kinds of weather we enjoyed being with the horses....We loved to feed them with carrots or other foods.

Also a true happened story.....

BAD TROJAN " Horses" on internet, what do they do and why?

A TROJAN "HORSE" is knowing also as an BAD VIRUS internet infection....This TROJAN HORSE infected all my PC's in a home network ( never connect PC's this way!) This Virus is disable your PC-System , I have no working PC's anymore , they are all at the computer-doctor for a repair, when possible but there is a small change, maybe....! Thats still the question...... untll that is sure I cannot upload often photo's on my blog. Sorry.

I am not happy at all with this kind of Trojan Horses. My MC AFEE Firewall was not strong enough, also my PC C-cleaner didn't do its work.

Since March 19Th until Nowaday.. April 6th : a TROJAN HORSES virus infected my PC's, problem is still NOT solved and will take another period of time...

From a Great Guy and his most georgious ART-collection ever,

From the in 2008 -passed away-famous fashion-designer Yves Saint Laurent has been sold this week in PARIS ; He wanted to sell their collected Art-collection only in PARIS

....

Sale of a Grand art collection a small historical background
In February 2009, an auction of 733 items was held by Christies at the Grand Palais, ranging from paintings by Picasso to ancient Egyptian sculptures. Saint Laurent and Bergé began collecting art in the 1950's, with Bergé commenting that the decision to sell the collection was taken because without Saint Laurent "it has lost the greater part of its significance," with the proceeds proposed to being used to create a new foundation for AIDS research. On the first day of the sale, Henri Matisse's work Cuckoos on a blue and pink carpet broke the previous world record set in 2007 for a Matisse work, selling for 32m Euros. Auctioneers said the collection could fetch up to 300m euros (£260m). (source wikipedia)

....

Yves's partner 'Pierre Bergé' an 78-jarige Frenchman ,

said the he was after the first SALE on (last weeks) Tuesday-evening „deeply tatched and very happy” by the result. Millions of Euro's was payed for the works from : 'Matisse', 'Mondriaan' and 'Brancusi' , but the 'Picasso' s" Instruments de musique sur un guéridon " worth the sum of a 25 million Euro's ,was sadly not sold. Who is interested? Musea's and Galleries.. Not us, we privat people , we do not have that enormous sums of money... not ever in a million years.

So we can ADMIRE this GREAT ART-works in musea's all over the world.

Above: The Musee d'Orsay with Selling the Artworks of : "Yves and Pierre",In Action (Foto Christie's)

*

The Musee d’Orsay in Paris bought a " Vuillard"and a "Ensor"

and the Centre Pompidou (Paris) bought the "Il Ritornante" from Girogio de Chirico.

Crisis or not, the almost complete Art-collection of more than 700 famous works has been sold last week by Cristies. The POSITIVE fact IS that most of the upbrought money will be used for medical investigation against the illness Aids ,and thats the GREAT part of this historical sold ART.( found detaills in www.nrcnext.nl)

'
Its Finally WINTER in HOLLAND

Above left- This morning our frontdoor lane, we could hardly see the road, because of the fog
Above right -Its sure winter in HOLLAND with beautiful sunny, brights, blue sky´s,
some trees did not loose their leaves

This morning... In Front of my door you see this view...
Above Left- cars are driving slowly to their work in the early morning rushhour
Above Right-The emphy field because the cows are in the cold winter indoors.
It was this morning foggy & the snow was melting, watch it!
Its very very slippery on the road ....

Also today a typical Dutch view,
Above left: with a Dutch windmill and a boat in frozen water, he will not go far today...
Above right: The sun is shining on the yellow grass....
The frozen water is like a morror...
A person is standing there, shall I go for a skatetour or not..
Yes! Its possible! After 12 years we can skate on ice...!!
And even more than that, the ICE is 15 cm so good enough for a Marathon...
Legs are going..........
and the SKY reflected in ICE
=
Historical LOW TEMPERATURE
in the South of Holland went down with 21/25 degrees celsius UNDER zero! That is spectacularly LOW! The temperature has not been this low for 12 years...More than 6000 people are expected to skate an ICE marathon today, to practise for this weekend´s SKATE-marathon- , we also call a `special know Dutch tour` the 11 town skate tour. While skating you are passing 11 towns-villages. Holland is welknown by its many canals wich is connecting the town by water. The fanatic skaters have been waiting so long for this absolutely great in icefuntour, the skaters are leaving early in the morning 7 am and they are sjating all day long, and they are hoping to reach the finish! We are wishing them GOOD LUCK.
*
I´ll better stick on the Frozen canals nearby my village , maybe I will skate half an hour ,than I´ll go back home for a hot chocolatemilk or a warm soup with a toast. And a good warmingup for an open wood fire. That sounds much better to me....
How about you?
Are you an fanatic skater?
When did you skate for the last time?
*
THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS
HAPPY WEEKEND

Above: As you can see I like Christmas decoration in 2 colours: Red and gold
*
HOW DO YOU LIKE YOUR CHRISTMAS DECORATION?
__________*__________
Meaning of Traditions
The word tradition comes from the Latin traditionem, acc. of traditio which means :
"a giving up, delivering up, surrendering,
and is used in a number of ways in the English language: Beliefs or customs taught by one generation to the next, often orally.
For example, we can speak of the tradition of :
sending birth announcements,
or Dutch Traditions such as;
in Holland we give flowers on any -coffee-visit.
we like to do our small shopping on a bike-car- ,
we like walking on wooden shoes,
we give our visiters 3 kisses as a greeting,
visiters are "not welcome 'around dinner time
(but we like to see our visiters always on any time!)
*
A set of customs or practices. For example, we can speak of Christmas traditions, with a Christmas tree or Christmas decoration and fireworks at the old/new years eve....
Above: A Christmas Tradition "making the Dinner table cosy with candles"
*
In some cultures/coountries People make the table looking cosy,
with special Decoration,
using candles on the dinner-table,
in the lvingroom is standing a Christmas tree with lights,
*
A broad religious movement made up of religious denominations or church bodies that have a common history, customs, culture, and, to some extent, body of teachings. For example, one can speak of Islam's Sufi tradition or Christianity's Lutheran tradition. However, on a more basic theoretical level, tradition(s) can be seen as information or composed of information. For that which is brought into the present from the past, in a particular societal context, is information. This is even more fundamental than particular acts or practices even if repeated over a long sequence of time. (source Wikipedia)
