Child'hood' ehhh Children's-bookweek :)

Its Childrens-BOOK-week in Holland,
therefore we think about the children....
Het is Kinderboekenweek in Nederland,
daarom denken aan de kinderen.....
*

*
So as a child she liked to play-fantasize about :
How it would be when I was an adult-mom, and you were a baby?.... I would be a MOM and taking care of my babies, I would sit on the bike, you could NOT bike yourself because I am always in a hurry, and you are sooooo slow!!!! And YOU -(mom) must sit on the baby-bike-seat in front of me. And I go watching a movie, and you...., you cannot come with me, you must stay home with the babysitter ... And than.... you never have to eat veggies anymore by dinner, we always eat friet- patatoes and icecream YES!!!! You could not look for dolls in the toy-store because you were having already enough dolls at home..
*
*
*
And YOU must always go on time to bed , and I go watch television but..... Ummmm when you have nighmare's at night, than.... YOU can ALWAYS come and sleep with me in my bed ! :)
*
Jij moest dan altijd op tijd naar bed,en ik mocht dan lekker naar TV kijken maarre.... als je 's-nachts nachtmerries kreeg, dan mocht je best bij mij in bed komen hoor!:)
*
*
That I 'll do , when I am an adult, is the child thinking here.
I ask : "Mom do you think that I could be such a good and sweet mom as you are?" Ummmmm..... My mom's looking at me and she smiles :) and than.... than she is laughing out loud. (LOL) Me blushing ask her: " Ummm Mom, why are you laughing?" Mom answers :" Because you are such a sweet litlle girl". I am happy with this answer, and I climb on her soft lap, my mom is smelling so good as MY mom always does, so sweet. I love my mom but...... I am also so happy to be a child.
*
I am SO glad a can be still as a child:)
Ik ben blij dat ik nog steeds als een kind kan zijn:)
*
Thankyou everyone for your understanding (I was not having internet yesterday)I was also not able therfor to visit your blogs. But its okay now, as you can see.

History of photography....

About "The history of Photography",
I found the following photo from a camera of my dad. Photo Under: This was 1 of the first camera's , used by my Dad in the time that I was a child! It's an old type "Rolleicord- camera", used with film and I remember him using this camera very well. He made the best photo's with this camera and won also several awards. Of course all photo's were printed in Black&White and all developed by himself in his own 'darkroom'. I sometimes liked to help him with that and we worked for hours in the darkroom. So quess from who I have my love for photography? Photo above: This Flash-light was used also by my father on his (other) camera -not so long ago until the year 1980 I quess?- Its now also an historical flashlight..... Foto boven: Deze flitser werd ook door mijn vader gebruikt op zijn andere camera -niet zo lang geleden t/m 1980?- en deze flitser is nu tevens historisch geworden.

1996 Without Make up ....

More memories, 10 years ago:
In Hospital 1996 without make-up Yak!
Last week I was looking at some more old photo's made by an analogue (film) camera. Even when I was in Hospital (1996) I took my camera with me.... why not, Huh crazy? No not for me. Well in Hospital is nothing funny to do there , so I made my own fun, and that worked really out well. I mad photo's from the doctors and nurses, they took photo's of me. I stayed there for 6 weeks. In this Hospital it was also not aloud to wear make-up right before or just after the operation. I am not pretty from myself . Oops... red haired people like me, have no colour on their eyelashes , and a very pale skin, so I was looking really 'naked'. Take the terrible 'without taste food' of Hospitals, count that.....and add a bowel-operation with that and you get an aw full face like me HAHA!!!(picture under) Well I saw the fun of it anyway...

Above: looking aw full
Picture under, as soon as I could I dressed myself even WITH shoes on and make-up , this way I was laying on my hospital bed. I was very proud of my NIKE shoes with red lights in the soles... Haha they were lightening up when I was walking. You got to do something funny when you are hospitalised right? Well the bowel-operation did not work 'on the long term' , but I am doing good enough in daily life, I still have enough own bowels . I am overall feeling happy and can do most things other people do, only a bit slower. Not bad ehh?
this is better

1985 Memories,

Colleagues in 1985,

We worked together as colleagues in 1985 . We were both living in different towns. We had our own partner: He a Dutch girl & I an American boyfriend. We did not know better than that I would emigrate in December 1985 to the USA. But it all worked out different. I quite the job after a half year working there, we lost each other 'out of the eye'.
To be continued......

Old photograph 12,Our first journey

We both like to travel so when we knew each other for 2 years we made in 1989 this 2 months journey to the Middle East: Maleisia. We were landing at Kuala-Lumpur, that was the only town we planned to go to. I promisse you.... when travelling together like we did you do for sure start to knowing each other better! We had to trust on each other comepletely , because Malasian people don't speak a word english. Therefore we had to stick closelyand stay together. We were having only a 7 kilogram shoulder-backpack with us and of course " The lonely planet- travel survival kit" ( a travel-guide) . We travelled by public transport as : buses, taxi's and riksja's, or by walking, we needed the travel-guide all the way! I also saw for the first time in my life trees with pink flowers on the beach! But also BIG rats (arrrrrr) and other small animals (torren and hagedissen) everywhere in the streets and in our rooms/lots/cabinas where we were sleeping in... Once we walked on a 'walking- path' -unexperienced as we were, we thought this was a park-....., Well it wasn't, 6 hours later we found our way out, we were walking in a jungle area with snakes and black panters, imagine ........we were so glad to find our way out, Bert lost his shoe-sole and when he walked later on a normal street, he made this sound: boem, click, boem - boem, click, boem. My open leather shoes were 2 sizes bigger because we had to walk true water and rivers and the water damaged my shoes. Some times it was raining hard or: "cats and dogs", because it was mounson-time (rainy season) , so we had to buy an embrella too. In this journey we also went by boat to the north of Indonesia/Sumatra, a 12 hour beautiful trip. Why? We saw this boat and though ; "well lets take that boat" not knowing that we passed the border ( the douane was on board to check your passport) and yes, we went to another countrie we found out. Bert was at that time very sick , he was having a high fever, we found out he was having a longue-flue ( from all the changing of temperature by air condition) . 2 weeks later we travelled from Indonesia to Thailand , where medicine are very easy to get. In a small hospital in Hat Yai Bert got 3 fluently coloured "blue-pink-yellow" pills w ich made him better immidiatly and for the rest of our exiting journey. 2 months later we came home in Amsterdam. We both lost a lot of weight, but safely with a lot of more & rich experience. After this trip we knew ( and we still do now) for sure we could count on each other in every circumstances.

Old photograph 11,Our first house

This photograph of us is made around 1994 , we bought our first house in Muiderberg a little small village near Amsterdam. This village had only one bank , one supermarket and a bakery. I never thought I would live in such a small village, because I only had lived before in big cities like :(NL) The Hague - Utrecht- (Italy) Rome - ( USA) New Jersey and Amsterdam. I was more a city-like-girl. I bought in Muiderberg my first car , a small white subaru mini dlx. I could not travel with the only bus in the village to my work in Amsterdam, because this bus was only going once in 1 hour...wow ..But we were so proud of our own first house. This house was having "drive-in" character, wich means that we were having a living kitchen downstairs, with a vieuw on our very small garden , with mostly stones and no grass. Upstairs we were having the living room and other rooms. In the backyard there was standing a beautiful pink magnolia- flower-tree and there were growing blue wisteria flowers also . We like this flowers so much that we planted in every new house we live : a magnolia tree, and of course....again the blue wisteria's .In Naarden we have the luxury of 2 gardens :a front - and a
backyard. Also the cow's in front ,our near our houses is something we love to see!

Dad, my uncle Dirk

Memories........ So strange it is, even when you know it is not your dad , wich passed away, but Dirk is my uncle, he passed away yesterday. Still his passing away was bringing back my -emotional- memories . Why? because it reminded me of the sick-bed of my own dad too....So I cried even for a moment, its not fear to loose your dad! I know of course my uncle did not pass away , the same way as my dad, but almost the same way.... They (my uncle-my dad) both were around their 80th year of life . Both they were having ( a different type of ) cancer , and they were in much pain because of cancer. My uncle had it in his lever and my dad in his bones. They were having both much pain medication, and at the end they both stopped eating and drinking. Both they were kept ttheir last days sleepy ( by medication) to ease their feelings. My dad is resting in peace since december 2003.

My uncle Dirk was also very sick, since yesterday-afternoon he passed away , now he is resting in a painless peace. We wish his wife and (grant) children , brothers and sisters , the strenght wich is needed for the coming painfull and difficult time. We are all thinking of you, and we are with you in our thoughts.

Old photograph 10, how we met...

The continuing story ..... How I met Bert, now my husband for nearly 20 years. Well before we met , we were collegues in a commercial company in the year 1985. We were both working on the same advertisement (publicity?) commercial company 'Bugamor' in Almere, but we both were having our own partner in that time. On work we were having always very much fun with each other and many good laughs... But I was having a relationship with an American man, and I was engaged, at the end of that year we would marry and move to New York . Therefore I took this job in March 1985, bacause it was paying so well. However the circumstances changed .... I finished the engagement and did not go to the USA , I also quith that job. I started working again in another commercial company ( selling TeleFax's) . We lost each other out of the eye.

2 years later I won a price in that commercial Fax-company, as THE best sales-woman of the company. I won a price for 2 persons a luxury long weekend to Paris. A totally arranged trip, including the Hotel and a great Theatre-champagne-dinner show in "THE famous LIDO Theatre" of Paris!! That was a great present, I was thinking " who would I like to have ,as my companion" on this great trip..... I was thinking of some male friends....with who I could have also fun. Of course I was thinking of Bert, but he was having a girlfriend ( I thought) but perhaps... I called a teacher of the company we both worked in before, this man told me that Bert was working in the North of Holland. So I called him for the first 'orientation' appointment to find out if he was single or not, like Iwas already for 2 years. We had not seen each other in between, because we were living in different cities. I found out in that appointment he was single .. So now I could make some plannes....in a nex telephone call I asked Bert if he could take 1 day+ weekend off..... , that I was having a nice surprise..he only had to answer 'Yes"..... He said YES ....I can take that day + weekend off and yes ,'whatever it is I am in for it'. So I said to him this: 'Than you are invited for a long weekend to Paris with me' ! Of course he was surprised, but crazy as I was in that time, he could expect that a woman like me, invited him for a 'free-not- to- pay- anything' long weekend to Paris. So we went to Paris, we had a great weekend as friends. Later at home we could not stop calling each other..... and the happy end resulted in a very good relationship wich still exist.

Old photographs 9: WK & Dad...

WK 2006; Netherlands is out of the worldcup!

Yesterday we Netherlands, lost the football game against Portugal with 0-1, so we are completely out of the WK...... Normally I would have called my dad, with a GOALL or just to say " how the game was" , 4 years ago he was still alive. My dad passed away in December 2003, after beeing so very sick that everyone wished him a painless death, including himself ( because of the terrible pain ) he did not like being around on this world anymore. His kind of illness :cancer in his bones, was absolutely not the kind of a painless ilness. Its the first WK worldcup without my dad, so therefore I remember him now more than normally.

The first photograph is made in the year 2001 when I visited my parents garden house.
About trafficjam: But I remember also the traffic mass from Amsterdam to The Hague. Normally its possible to drive to The Hague in 1 hour...... but it was only possible in two hours - or more- driving by car from Naarden ( where I live) to their house in The hague. In Holland there always is a terrible traffic jam, mostly on the mainroad A4 to The Hague, it takes you many hours to get to The Hague because of that. The same story (trafficjam) when I companied my dad always to the hospital for Xray ( bestraling) or chemo. I picked him up from the nursinghouse and afterwards I brought him back. I used to call the doctors sometimes that I could not get out of this Traffic-Jam, so mostly I left the house at 8.00 am to arrive sometimes at 11.00 am (!!) at the hospital... And not to name also the same with driving back. I called driving to The Hague in that time : a " TOPSPORT" . Well I would not have to miss it for one minute to be with my dad, because we were always having fun together, while waiting in the hospital. After the hospital visit we went to the beach for a vieuw on the sea and the waves.
The close up picture of my dad is made just before he went into the hospital in The Hague the summer of 2001. Normally He was very thin in his face, but later when the hospital was giving him medicine his face and body blew up ( cushing face) . My mom and dad use to go together to this gardenhouse when it was summer, and the sat ther the intire day, just enjoying doing nothing or working in the ( flower & vegetable) garden. My father always was a handy-man, he made a wooden table inside and a beautiful kitchen, also a ( bank) coutch from wood with big pillows, where you could sleep on. Also he made a connection for a heater, so when it was cold they could put on the heater. My father was very good in electricity because he was an electrician , he could also repair motors etc. The gardenhouse was only a "stoneworp " away from my parents appartment in The Hague .When they were celebrating their birthdays, they invited all the children and the grandchildren. It was a full house. When they were both in better health they used to go by bike & later they went by car to this gardenhouse.
Summer 2003, my fathers last summer, here he was sitting in the backyard behind our house , he was not living with my mom anymore, but he was living in a special nursery house ( for sick people, which are needing daily help). On this photograph my dad was looking at the same "old photograps" of his/my youth as just publiced on this blogger. All the old black and white photographs from my youngh age, are my by my dad's camera.I am so glad he was in our house and that he also met my dog, also that we were able to let my dad stay in our house for a whole week. He without pain now and very happy. I will never forget him.

Old photograph 8, 'Jokka' becomes JoAnn...

How I became from Johanna, my dad always called me -Josje , Joke , Jokka called on travelling ,to JoAnn since 1980: This year I travelled most in my life "on a row'", because I was having a "sabbatical' year in between 2 studies. I travelled by train as a backpacker , first to Athens-Greece and from there to Corfu aGreek Island. I was working where-ever I was as a waitress, serving drinks and food, this way I earned my money for my own food and for staying in hostels and travelling around. In that time there were cheap "student-train- tickets , it only took you a long time, before you arrived. somewhere. For example: travelling to Athens took me 36 hours by train. But why not ? I was having plenty of time. Once I slept in Italy in front of a trainstation, in the morning all people who went to their work by train, walked around me and woke me/us up. We were mostly with a group of backpackers, we did not know each other, but for safety we slept ( all in our own sleeping bag) in the open air together. After the night sleep we all went our own travel-way. A very nice time also to knowing yourself better, because you only trust on yourself. I came stronger out of that travel-year. I also met some friends in Rome, a couple Lorella and Edmundo , they still are my (our) friends. We meet once in a while , sometimes they come to Holland or we visit Italy . While travelling I found out my name 'Joke' was difficult for foreign countries to pronounce my name, so I was called "Jokka" and I did not like how that sound. Because my given birthname is 'Johanna' , I changed that year my name in JoAnn. This became my new name and still is............. (tip: doubeclick on the photograp to enlarge)

Old photograph 7, Acting & Theatre

This photographs above are made in 1977 when I was living in Utrecht , I was acting in a theatre-group.

In that time I was also working in the Theatre, as an artistik manager, I was arranging the programs/shedules of " what was playing" IN the Theatre like: Childrens theatre and a moviehouse for children. My duty was to watch the Theatre-plays & the Music and the Dancing ahead, to see if it was good for our Theatre. Also was my duty to arrange festivals and doing the presentation of this festivals. I very variating job, also not a regular job. because when I was starting with my work ( around 18.00 pm) , it was dinnertime for other people and I was finished at 2.00 am in the morning or later. Not enough time for social talks or visits, but a great time in my life with a lot of travelling and meeting many different kind of people. ( doubleclick on the photograph to enlarge)

Old photograph 6, teenager..

Around 1969: This is JoAnn, I was 14 years old here. It was in the " hippie" fashion-time and " Dolle Mina" . We loved to wear old clothes , I loved to wear the colour black because that was very " cool", as jewelry I liked to wear big sober silver earrings and many rings on my fingers. The walls in my sleeping-room were painted orange and purple and we used to make cupboards , from old wooden tomato-boxes. We were listening to music as "the Beatles" .My favorit number was "ANGIE" from the " Rolling Stones" .The most fantastic music for me in that time was from " The Who" with the 'Rockopera Tommy' , great! . I liked also Dutch music-groups as the "Ekseption"and "Shocking Blue" with the famous number 'Venus' . It was usual as a teenager to look that seriously, as I looked on the picture.

Old photograph 5, with dolls

Made in 1961: We, my sisters and I loved to play with our dolls. The first photograph on the left is JoAnn as a kid with her 2 dolls . 1 doll was named Ada ( after my favorite niece , also the daughter of uncle Govert) and my other doll Nelly . On the 2th picture , the 3 sisters from the left to the right: My 2 sisters Adriana & Eveline + their dolls and me with the round face and the biggest smile , because I was feeling important ....it was my birthday . I don't like the haircut... but in that time ( 1961) it wasn't usual at all going to a hairdresser, nobody went. I am glad that a hairdresser is taking care of my hair-coupe now , therefore there are hairdressers you know? It's a reall profession.....

Old photograph 3, biking

On Sundays-afternoon , my father & sisters went on bike trips. My father made an extra large behind-sitter on his bike, so we all three could sit on the behind bike-seat. One of us could bike beside him, he was holding you then on your schoulder, when you became tired. I was proud when it was my turn to bike beside him, because I was the youngest I had only a short term. Here we are having a brake on a bench. In the front: Adriana, in the middle JoAnn & behind, my father Jan. In the back you can see an old car-type of that time : around 1962.

Having a brake, on the picture down from left to the right: JoAnn, Eveline and right Adriana. In front you can see the old "ranja" orange-flavoured lemonade bottles, we used to bring this bottle filled with lemonade, for the drinking-brake. Look at our shoes, this typical girls-shoes with socks we loved to wear always!
